I had the best nectarine for breakfast this morning. After a long night's sleep, biting into the perfectly ripe and juicy fruit instantly put me in an amazing mood. The nectarine was just juicy enough-- not too juicy that its nectars dripped all over me like those of a plum. Its skin was perfectly smooth and begging for me to take another bite. So I did, until it was gone. And then I was sad.
I got the nectarines from my local gourmet market. They always have the best produce, and when I walked by the nectarines their aroma wafted up to me, calling my name.
Personally, I like nectarines way better than peaches. The fuzzy skin on peaches kind of creeps me out and leaves a weird tangy feeling on my tongue. But nectarines have the most perfect texture. Their skin even has this amazing sweet taste on its own. Does anybody out there actually like peaches more than nectarines?
Nectarines are one of my favorite fruits in the summer, along with cherries, watermelon, and mango. What are your favorite summer fruits?
