  • Rich People Who Don't Look So Rich

After the post "Feeling Rich: Think Your Way to Big Bucks," I got thinking. What is the difference between being rich and appearing rich?

There are some people who you could pass on the street and never know how much money they have because it doesn't show. I know a few people who, just by looking at them, you would never know are as wealthy as they are. It's because of the way they dress, carry themselves, and act. I also know people who appear to have a lot of money because of the designer items they own, but in reality, they can't afford the things they have.

In one of my favorite TV shows, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Larry David (creator of Seinfeld and thus very, very rich) appears physically to be just an average guy. He wears khaki pants and sneakers and he drives a Toyota. For this, I really admire his lack of ostentation.

What do you think of people who show off how much money they have? Do you know rich people who look poor, or poor people who look rich?

If you have the money, I think it's personally okay to walk around in designer items, drive a fancy car etc. Especially is buisness situations, where (I'm assuming the money is coming from work) people might expect that of you.

But if you're just walking around town, I would say getting all dressed up, is a might sill. Aside from the people forming oppinions about you deal, seriously, if you don't have to be in a $1000 suit, why risk getting it splattered with mud as a car goes by. (Slim chance but, Hey!)

I suppose how you want to be treated also goes along with how you dress, so if you're really rich, and you want to be treated as a normal person, I suppose it wouldn't be smart to walk around like you're a millionare.

    Hello Ms. H,

I’m sending an important message to people about Jehovah God’s plans for us that is in the Bible. 2 And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD: 3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. (Exodus 6:2-3) (KJV)
