College Planning in the Economic Crisis
A recent statistic posting in the Kansas City Star says:
"Four in 10 teens have altered their college plans because of the economic slowdown, while one in five had to either go with their second choice of college because of cost or attend a state school instead of a private one to save money."
When I was applying to colleges, financial reasons were one of my largest factors. While most of my friends could pick and choose any college to attend, I had to strongly consider the cost. I know that I was lucky to even have the given option of going to college in the first place, and for many people it's a lot harder.
But personally, I don't think education is something to sacrifice because of money. I know that it's hard to afford four years of college, but with scholarships and loans I think it's still very important to be well educated-- even in the current economic crisis.
Did you or will you have to alter your college plans because of the economic slowdown?
